“Has anything interesting happened to you lately?”

“I don’t know. Having to move was tough. It was a financial thing. I had to move where it’s cheaper to live, and I don’t have a car. I lost my car. I wouldn’t say that’s interesting, but that’s about the most interesting thing that’s happened to me lately. I’m trying to think of happy things, because I don’t want to, you know, just tell you things that are downers.”

“Tell me what you do for fun. We’ll totally switch the conversation.”

“Yeah! There we go. What do I do for fun? Well, you know, I’m kind of a stay-at-home…and I work on my computer, actually. I do work from home. And, there’s something exciting. I just got a new job, so I can work at home.”

“What are you doing?”

“It’s customer service […] and it’s interesting, because you get to meet people on the phone. Even though I don’t get out much. I’m on disability. I’ve been on disability for quite a while, so it’s hard for me to get out, and like I say, I lost my car, but this way, that is exciting to me that I can [get some interaction.]”

“And, well, I used to have an exciting life. I used to work for NASA.”

“Yeah. Actually, I trained the astronauts on how to use the computers on board the shuttle, and that was interesting and exciting. I enjoyed that very much. I worked for NASA for about 15 years, and then I retired on disability, and I moved up here to be with my son. So, it’s kind of different, you know, being a stay-at-home person now, because I was a very busy person before.”
